ECALYPTUS
Ecalyptus has many medicinal
properties. It is used in pills, inhalers, liquids, and ointments to cure many
health problems. Oil extracted from the leaves is called eucalyptus oil. It is
highly inflammable and contains compounds that are disinfectants.
Benefits:
1. Cold: Ecalyptus is used in the treatment
of cold, congestion of lungs, sore throat, bronchitis and pneumonia. It is
rubbed on the chest to cure congestion and cough.
2. Sore throat: decoction made of
eucalyptus leaves is used to gargle. This reduces the pain in throat.
3. Wounds: Ecalyptus has anti-bacterial, antiseptic
and slightly anaesthetic properties. It can be used externally to cure wounds,
burns and boils.
4. Rheumatism: Ecalyptus oil or ointment is
applied externally to reduce joint pains.
5. Insect repellent: If applied on the
body, it will keep insects like mosquitoes and fleas.
6. Refreshing bath: Put a few fresh leaves
of eucalyptus into the water before heating it for bathing. You can then have a
refreshing bath which will not only make you fresh but also cure any body
pains.
7. Pests: Ecalyptus oil is used to keep
pests away.
8. Washing: It is a good idea to put a few
drops of eucalyptus to your washing since it has anti-microbial properties.
Ecalyptus oil can be used to remove paint, grease and ink stains from clothes.
Danger: Taking too much eucalyptus can lead to constipation.
Hence it is not recommended for pregnant ladies and people with liver and
kidney problems. Use ecalyptus oil with care for it can become toxic for you.
