1. AJOWAN


                                              AJOWAN



Ajowan is used as a spice in curry and other dishes. It tastes hot and bitter. The seeds can be eaten raw for they have many medicinal properties. Ajowan seeds have proteins, carbohydrates, fatty minerals, phosphorus, iron, carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, calcium, and niacin.  Oil is extracted from the seeds by steam distillation.

Benefits:
1. Digestion: Use of ajowan improves digestion. It also acts as a stimulant.
2. Gas problem: Drink decoction of ajowan twice a day to cure flatulence.
3. Cold:  Powder ajowan and pack in a cloth. Breathe in the strong smell to clear a blocked nose. Ajowan oil is used to cure whooping cough.
4.  Ear pain: heat ajowan in milk and filter it. Use the milk as ear drops.
5. Asthma: Boil ajowan in water and inhale the steam to clear asthma problem.
6. Sprains: Make a paste of ajowan, salt, turmeric in gingerly oil and apply on the area of pain along with wheat flour. 
7. Toothpaste: Thymol present in ajowan oil is a germicide, anti-spasmodic and fungicide.  Hence it is used in manufacture of toothpaste and perfume.
8. Indigestion: Ajowan is used to cure indigestion and colic.
9. Sex: Ajowan has aphrodisiac properties and hence it can be used to increase sexual enjoyment.
10. Asthma & Arthritis: Use of ajowan can reduce the problems occurring due to asthma and arthritis.
11. Tonic: Ajowan oil is used as a stimulant tonic.
12. Diarrhoea: Ajowan oil is used as a cure for diarrhoea.
13. Piles: Add ajowan powder to butter milk and drink.
