Coriander leaves have a strong smell and hence they are used to garnish variety of dishes like curry, soup, butter milk, chutney, etc. The leaves can be eaten raw in salads and juice.
Benefits:
1. Anxiety: Coriander reduces anxiety and insomnia since it acts as a diuretic. Coriander seeds and cumin seeds are boiled in water and cooled. Drink the liquid.
2. Nose bleeding due to body heat: Juice of fresh coriander leaves can be used as nasal drops.
3. Digestion: Coriander leaves act as stimulants and tonics for the stomach, strengthening its functions as well as promoting digestion.
4. Fever: Coriander helps reduce fever since it cools the body and helps remove phlegm.
5. Coriander has an anti-bacterial compound called cilantro, which reduces the risk of water born disease.
6. Arthritis: Coriander helps cure arthritis due to its anti-inflammatory property.
7. Menstruation: Eating coriander seeds helps cure excess bleeding during menstruation.
8. Diabetes: Coriander helps secretion of insulin and helps lower sugar level in blood.
9. Constipation: Coriander is a good source of fibre and hence helps cure constipation.
10. Urinary track infection: Coriander helps cure any infection in the urinary track.
11. Heart diseases: Coriander helps reduce the bad cholesterol and increase the good cholesterol.
12. Head ache: Grind coriander leaves with water and drink daily to get relief from head ache.
13. Indigestion: Mix curry leaves with buttermilk and make a juice. Drink to cure indigestion. Or mix cardamom powder with ginger, clove and coriander. Consume to cure indigestion.
14. Excessive bleeding during menstruation: Decoction of coriander seeds is a very good cure. Drink twice or thrice a day.
