Walnut trees are huge in size and look
beautiful in a garden. The outer cover of the walnut is too hard to eat. The
inside kernel is removed for consumption. Walnut is rich in oil (ω-3 fatty
acids). They also contain potassium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and copper. Walnut
oil is very expensive and is used in salad and for massage.
Benefits:
1. Bedwetting: Eat two walnuts and one dry
raisin at night before going to bed.
2. Walnuts can help lower the bad
cholesterol in our body thus reducing the risk of heart problems.
4. Walnut is good for the kidneys. Walnuts
are a good cure for constipation.
5. Asthma: Eating a few walnuts between two
bouts of asthma is found to reduce asthma.
6. Eating walnuts is found to strengthen
back and knees.
3. Walnut shells are very hard and hence
they are used to clean soft metals, fibreglass, plastics, wood and stone. They
are also used in air blasting, de-burring, de-scaling, and polishing operations
because of its elasticity and resilience. Uses include cleaning automobile and
jet engines, electronic circuit boards, and paint and graffiti removal.
4. The shells are also used in oil-well
drilling.
5. The shells are powdered and used in
plastic industry.
6. Paint thickener: Walnut shells are added
to paint to give it a thicker consistency for "plaster effect"
ranges.
7. Explosives: Walnut shells are used as
filler in dynamite.
8. Cosmetic cleaner: Walnut shells are occasionally
used in soap and exfoliating cleansers
9. Walnut husks are used to prepare dyes
for clothes.
10. The wood is used to prepare furniture,
guns, musical instruments and cars.
